Liverpool come from behind to remain unbeaten (Wolves 1-3 Liverpool)

The first game after the international break took place at the Molineux Stadium as Wolves took on a flying Liverpool side. The home side took the lead early on thanks to a brilliant move from Pedro Neto, he danced his way through three Liverpool defenders in order to reach the byline. Hwang Hee-Chan waited for the ball at the far post and fired it over the line when the chance arrived. Most of the credit had to go to Neto for his great assist, the Portuguese star displayed the quality we knew he had.

Although they had a strong first half, Wolves were overrun in the second, as Liverpool fought back to take all three points home. Cody Gakpo was in the right place at the right time to apply the finishing touch to Mohamed Salah's cross - Andy Robertson popped up with a priceless goal in the 85th minute, what a way to celebrate your 200th appearance for the club! The victory was certain when Hugo Bueno conceded an own goal during additional time, Harvey Elliot's strike on goal was heading wide but Bueno's boot guided it into the back of the net. Mohamed Salah failed to get on the scoresheet but the Liverpool star did make history with his contributions throughout the game: his two assists means he now has the most Premier League assists of any African player.

Villa steal the victory late on (Aston Villa 3-1 Crystal Palace)

A goalless first half, however, Moussa Diaby did score a beautiful goal after the thirty minute mark, bringing the ball down and converting the shot with ease, VAR took away the Frenchman's joy as his goal was disallowed for offside. Aston Villa had been the better side, with Crystal Palace showing almost nothing exciting going forward.

The Eagles shocked everyone as they went ahead right at the start of the second half, totally against the run of play. Edouard got on the end of a lovely through ball from Jean-Phillipe Mateta, aiming it under Emiliano Martinez and into the goal. Roy Hodgson's side looked to have won the game and were ready to return to London with three huge points under their belt, but Villa managed to steal the victory late on. Jhon Duran equalised in the 87th with a glorious effort that flew past Sam Johnstone and Douglas Luiz converted from 12 yards late on in injury time, as if that wasn't enough, Leon Bailey rubbed salt further into Palace wounds with a third in the 101st minute of the game. Gutting for Crystal Palace.

Super-sub Vinicius helps Fulham beat Luton (Fulham 1-0 Luton)

The home side dominated in the first half but with nothing to show for it, however the two best chances of the game fell to Luton in quick succession, neither of which they took. They were punished in the second half where Fulham controlled the game even more so than before the interval.

Super sub Carlos Vinicius made the biggest impact on the game, breaking the deadlock to score the one and only goal of the match to give his side all three points and leave Luton waiting to get off the mark. Fulham enjoyed some pretty build up play before getting the ball out wide to Willian. His cross into the box was pushed away from goal by Thomas Kaminski but straight into the path of Vinicius who tucked away the simple opportunity. With this defeat, Luton became the second club in Premier League history to lose all of their opening four games, the first were Swindon Town in the 1993/94 season.

Brighton end United's Old Trafford run (Manchester United 1-3 Brighton)

A high flying Brighton side travelled to Old Trafford hoping to undo their excellent unbeaten run at the ground, they hadn't lost a home game since the opening game last season where they lost 1-2 to Brighton. Former United striker Danny Welbeck put Brighton ahead inside twenty minutes, Adam Lallana let Simon Adingra's cross run through his legs to confuse the Manchester United defence, allowing it to fall to Welbeck. All the Englishman had to do was cooly beat Andre Onana from close range, he did just that! New boy Rasmus Hojlund thought he had equalised moments before half time with his first goal for the club, VAR had other ideas, disallowing his goal as they felt Marcus Rashford's cross was sent into the box after the ball had already crossed the byline.

The entertaining fixture was still extremely balanced as the players headed in for half time, Rashford had caused a lot of threat down the left-hand side, but it was Roberto De Zerbi's Brighton who were ahead. The second half got even livelier, Pascal Gross doubled the away side's advantage with a brilliantly worked team goal, the Albion strung together 29 passes before the German dispatched the finish. Joao Pedro took the game beyond doubt with the third, although so he thought, young midfielder Hannibal Mejbri gave Manchester United a lifeline moments after Pedro's goal. It wasn't enough for the Red Devils, they had been completely outclassed.

Richarlison inspires late comeback (Tottenham 2-1 Sheffield United)

Another game that was goalless at half time, Spurs were by far the better side, they gave everything but could apply the finishing touch in front of goal. The substitution of Manor Solomon for Richarlison made the world of difference, turning no points into three and giving his side their 4th straight victory.

Against all odds, Sheffield United took the lead in the 73rd minute, despite doing pretty much nothing all game. Jack Robinson got the assist via a long throw in deep into the penalty area, Ollie McBurnie could quite reach it for the flick on but that didn't matter; Gustavo Haner ran in late to drill the ball across the face of goal, off the post and in! Seven minutes later Richarlison came on to change the game, after a tough start to the season and a poor international break, this was his chance to redeem himself, and he did just that. Perisic's corner ball met the Brazilian at the front post, a glancing header into the top corner to give him and his side the lift they needed. Dejan Kulusevski scored the winner but again Richarlison was heavily involved, he burst into the Blades' penalty area, knocked it through to his Swedish teammate who did the rest. Captain Heung-Min Son was quick to remind fans who was to thank for the late rescue, a happy Ange Postecoglu celebrated on the sideline, the Aussie manager has gone 50 consecutive home matches unbeaten.

Jeremy Doku continues fine start to City career (West Ham 1-3 Manchester City)

The Champions went behind against West Ham despite being on the front foot for the entirety of the first 45 minutes. James Ward-Prowse built on his superb start to life at West Ham with the opener, an in form Vladimir Coufal claimed the assist.

Almost instantly after the second half started, City's recent signing Jeremy Doku got his first goal for the club and what a goal it was. He'd been a threat all afternoon and it finally paid off with the equaliser, the Belgian picked up the ball on the wing, drove into the box with purpose and had no troubled finding the far corner. From there the chances and goals came rolling in, Julian Alvarez's free kick struck the post, Bernardo Silva lifted the ball over Alphonse Areola to give City the lead and Erling Haaland inevitably got involved with that trademark left footed rifle into the back of the net. Pep Guardiola's team maintain their perfect start to the season, the Spanish manager is now unbeaten in all 15 Premier League games against West Ham.

Wilson penalty the decider at St James' Park (Newcastle 1-0 Brentford)

Brentford haven't beaten Newcastle away from home since September 1934, so it was always going to be a challenge to beat them, even if it was a tight contest throughout most of the game. Despite the lack of goals, it was at least a tight contest with plenty of good stops on display from each sides respective goalkeeper.

In the second half Newcastle upped the pressure on the Bees and it paid off, Callum Wilson scored the only goal of the game from 12 yards, Bryan Mbuemo had the opportunity to level the scoreline from an identical situation, however the Brentford man wasn't able to score from the penalty spot. Wilson's goal was the match winner, which meant Brentford unbeaten run had come to a close.

Chelsea continue their substandard start to the season (Bournemouth 0-0 Chelsea)

Chelsea's new era under Pochettinho hasn't been panning out how most thought it would, down by the coast, this disappointing start to the season continued. Bournemouth took a while to get going but eventually grew into the game, from Chelsea's point of view it was the same as always: they were getting into great goal scoring positions, but just weren't clinical enough.

Neither side managed to find a breakthrough, both goalkeepers were on form when they needed to be. Bournemouth will be happy with a point against Chelsea, but they are stil without a win under Andoni Iraola. For Chelsea, it's another let down that could have so easily been prevented.

Trossard saves the day in Merseyside (Everton 0-1 Arsenal)

As expected, Everton took the cautious approach against the high-flying Gunners, they sat deep and soaked up the pressure, making for a very uneventful first half. Gabriel Martinelli did score but it was ruled out for a controversial offside, leaving fans very unhappy due to the angles provided for what they felt was a confusing VAR decision. Five minutes later Martinelli was forced off due to injury and was replaced by Leandro Trossard.

The substitute made the difference in this game, scoring the winner in the 70th minute. Martinelli had to go and Trossard stepped up to claim all three points for his side. Arsenal were working the ball around nicely outside the Everton penalty area, Bukayo Saka eventually cut the ball back for Trossard, he opened up his left boot and directed his effort towards the left corner past Pickford, ending the Gunners three game losing streak at Goodison Park. This result means it's the first time for Everton since 2005/06 that they've lost their first three home matches without scoring a single goal, not a stat they'll be happy to find out about.

Hudson-Odoi's screamer salvages a point for Forest (Nottingham Forest 1-1 Burnley)

The final game of the match week after the return of league football took place on Monday night at the City Ground, although it was the boys from Turf Moor who scored first. 19 year old Luca Koleosho was creating magic out on the left wing for Burnley and had a key involvement in the opening goal scored by Zeki Amdouni. Lyle Foster's original attempt on goal was poor but fell to the feet of Amdouni who made no mistake with the half-volley. Their first top flight meeting since 1971 and the away side had the lead at the break.

Nottingham Forest fought back in the second half and got back onto level terms via Callum Hudson-Odoi, he scored an absolute worldie, a great way to introduce yourself to the Forest fans. Lyle Foster thought he scored the winner but VAR stopped the party, totally against the run of play, Burnley are caught out, allowing Foster to tap the ball into an empty net. The referee ruled out the goal after seeing the replay were there was a handball from Sander Berge before assisting what could have been the winner. Tensions continued to rise and boiled over, the match ended with a sour taste as Lyle Foster was dismissed from the pitch after swinging out at Ryan Yates with his elbow. A frustrating end for Burnley but on a positive note they have their first point of the season on the board.
