James Maddison and Neal Maupay clashed during the London derby on Wednesday night, the English midfielder got the last laugh as Tottenham beat Brentford 3-2 to climb into the top four.

Neal Maupay opened the scoring at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium just 15 minutes into the match. His celebration sparked a confrontation with Maddison as Maupay mimicked the Englishman's trademark darts celebration.

Although the Bees were ahead at the interval, the home side came out all guns blazing in the second half, scoring all three goals inside eight minutes. Spurs scored two in as many minutes thanks to Iyenoma Udogie and Brennan Johnson before Richarlison extended their lead in the 56th minute.

Ivan Toney scored his second goal since his return but it wasn't enough to prevent Ange Postecoglu's side holding onto three points.

After the full-time whistle, James Maddison said: "He probably hasn't scored enough goals of his own in the last few years to have his own celebration so he had to copy mine," via TNT Sports. Maddison then took to social media, mocking the Frenchman for his actions that eventually backfired.

Despite the final result, Maupay still hit back with a post of his own in response to Maddison's. He said: "More goals and less relegations in my career than James Maddison."
