Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison got a brace yesterday to help his side beat Eddie Howe's Newcastle, his two left-footed strikes were his first to find the back of the net with his feet since signing for the club last summer.
In Spurs' 4-1 victory over Newcastle, Richarlison got his first two goals for the club with his feet, after scoring all his previous five with his head. The initial sweeping left-footed effort doubled Tottenham's lead after Destiny Udogie broke the deadlock. Heung-Min Son also got on the scoresheet from the penalty spot after claiming two assists earlier on in the game. Joelinton scored a consolation goal for the Magpies but it had no effect on the final result.
In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, Ange Postecoglu had big praise for captain Son, he said: "Sonny set the tone for us early on, that's leadership". The South Korean's goal was his 10th of the season, making him only the seventh player in Premier League history to score 10+ goals in at least eight successive seasons.
Richarlison signed for Spurs on June 2022 from Everton for a reported £60m, he's made 49 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals. Postecoglu hopes the brace will be a "mental boost" for the Brazilian who hasn't managed to reach the heights he did at Everton just yet.
